local crane shut down for safety concearns

the seattle pi reports that 2 cranes in seattle and one in the east bay were shut down due to "potential safety problems". one of the suspect cranes is a block away from the cosmo, at 1823 Terry Ave, home of the Aspira apartment building project.

the Aspira crane was cited for structural and electrical problems, which were found because of new inspection requirements introduced in the wake of recent crane incidents in the area.

Aspira Apartments: 1823 Terry Avenue, corner of Stewart & Terry. with 37-stories and 326 units, the first occupancy is anticipated for the fall of 2009.
