goodbye greyhound, hello big

just received an email tip about early design review for a "51 story, 1,200 room hotel, convention and meeting space (100,000 sq.ft.)" in place of the greyhound bus station.

although pretty darn ugly at the moment, the greyhound station is a registered historical building. even so, the existing office structure and bus station will be demolished.

According to the Seattle Times, The Seattle Landmark Preservation Board decided to reject the recommendation to nominate the 1927 station for protected landmark status.

reppond team- thanks for the reference. interesting how "interpretive" land use regulations and city ordinances are when you have a lot of money. i'm not suggesting that i disagree with the decision in this case. i'm actually happy to see the bus station deleted from our neighborhood. nevertheless, i do think that the law should be applied equally, no matter the size of ones bank account.

What have you got against the bus station? Especially since it doesn't block anyone's view. Its current location is convenient for travelers to access a variety of mass transit options.
